1@damron13 wrong, Bret screwed Bret. no one in history gets put over when you leave a promotion. think about it. every time a wrestler has their last match with a promotion, they lose. it’s called “doing the honors” for the company that made you, and Bret, for whatever reason, felt that he was above that and couldn’t tolerate losing to HBK. Bret screwed himself.

2I’m glad Bret and Shawn finally patched up their real life differences. I just wish Owen, Bulldog, and Rude were still alive to see that.

3I liked Bret ever since I started watching WWF/E & never cared too much for HBK.I remember the “Sunny Days” comment he said on a RAW show,then a week later I believe,Bret kicked his ass before the show even started.I would too if someone made a slick implication about me cheating on my wife.

that match either. Hart also no-sold the shoulder after Michaels worked
it non-stop for 20 mins with power moves and submission holds.

9watch the ironman match again sometime and notice how many cheapshots shawn has in the match. H ealso throws a fit during the mnatch on the outside of the ring and afterwards with Earl Hebner when he cant get the belt on right. A TRUE ASSHOLE.

10Difference between Bret and Shawn was that Bret dropped matches even when he didnt want to..he was upset about them, but he dropped the matches….Shawn outright refused to drop matches to many guys, Bret included…Even to Austin he nearly refused to wrestle because he didnt wanna drop the tittle…Atleast bret did drop them even when he wasnt happy

11Your 100% right. Shawn ran second fiddle to Bret and supported him for years before he got his shot. He also respected Bret in the early days even though he was a prick, he was good to Bret until Bret started shooting on him constantly and bad mouthing him.

15@shimagaijin1017: Yes, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that the WWF/WWE, WCW, TNA, and etc are made to look real even though they are telling each other the moves to be ready for and stuff like that. A good example of this is to get on a trampoline and tell somebody to come at you and let you slam them, then take turns doing this till you declare a winner.

16Wow! He said that about Davey cuz Davey forgot what he was supposed to at the end. Bret wanted Davey to look at him to add to the moment. As for Bret being mad about the ppl he dropped the belt to, it was often that he was the person who would have to job to those who didn’t deserve it.

17I remember watching this match when I was 13 years old on ppv and till this day I think this is the greatest wrestling match of all time. It was just the build up of shawn, the false finishes, a unique match at the time, two guys in there prime wrestling and two faces wrestling(which was unique at the time). The WWE thinks that kids have short attention spans but when I saw this I was in to it every minute of the match.

18I’m reading through Bret’s book for the 2nd time. I’d like to go through it 1 more time & take notes bc Bret’s selfishness oozes through his book.
He didn’t want to put over Yoko, he was upset when he dropped the IC belt to Rougeau, even though he was getting it back from Piper at WM 8.
Davey Boy was celebrating his IC title victory in the ring to the UK CROWD and Bret said QUOTE, “You idiot, look at me, the sympathy is with me, not them!”…I mean seriously, how full of yourself can you be?

19Well not to sound rude or anything, I think Bret seemed to not get out of the ring as quick as some people think he should have because it was an hour iron man match. He must’ve been drained out of energy. It took him so long to make it to his feet.

20Difference between people like you and me is I can see another side to the issue. I can see Bret’s side, although I think he’s wrong.
A lot of wrestlers have said they didn’t like Shawn during that era, so he probably was a big dickhead. Doesn’t mean Bret is totally innocent in all of this.
But I’m not going to try to reason with simple minded marks like you.

Vince knew he made a mistake by putting the belt on shawn because his back gave out, and he regrets the whole ordeal that went down with Bret. Shawn sucks.

22I think Shawn could’ve handled that better. I think he was wrong for straight out telling Bret to “GTFO of the ring.”
But I also think Bret was lingering around the ring trying to make the moment about himself.
Hulk Hogan did the same thing when he jobbed to Warrior. He wanted people watching him as he left the ring, not the new champion in the ring.
I’m willing to bet that incident was playing in Shawns mind.

23If you look real carefully when the referee was handing the belt to Shawn, you see Shawn telling Bret to get out of the ring. Just look at the expressions from the ref and Bret.

24Shawn messed up that jump from the top rope…he just landed on his back. Unless that’s how it was supposed to go…it would have looked much better with say Bret moving back from a drop kick, then applying the sharp shooter.

25Vince never asked Shawn to lose to Bret…He didn’t want the belt on Bret. Thats why when Bret won the Fatal 4-way, he lost the the very next night to Sid on RAW. Bret did draw first blood with the rants, dirt sheets, interviews talking about HBK in a demeaning way. Shawn praised Bret in his until Bret wouldn’t let up
