    Nothing seems botched. In Jim hit the back of his head against the canvas he’s gonna be a little loopy and think he already had his shoulder up.

    @endofthelinejoel
    They never officially acknowledged this title change. Watched religiously as a kid, and only read about this in PWI.

    I remember looking at a wrestling magazine at the grocery store in early 1991 and it listed The Rockers as WWF tag team champions and I was like “What?!?!?!” I can see why they didn’t air this particular match as it’s pretty weak, but you’d think that if Vince made the decision to give them the belts that he’d schedule another match for the title change.

    I have never understood why they keep matches going after the rope breaks. It makes no sense to me. If a rope broke in boxing, they would call time and fix it. If a rope broke in MMA, they would call time and fix it. Why in the world don’t they kayfabe together a rule that says a match must be halted if the rope breaks? It’d prevent junk like this from happening.

    Bret doesn’t seem as sharp as usual here.

    @makiaveliko22 Bret’s moves were awful? Only in your brittle mind.

    umm no in Bret’s book he WANTED to lose the tag titles, as he was in line for a singles push and the IC Belt. But circumstances kept them holding the belts.

    Bret wasn’t trying to be a gymnast, his was a realistic style of wrestling. Some of today’s offensive moves are incredible, but overall the wrestling is far too choreographed.

    The reason that this match was buried was that the top rope was broken and the match was awful because of it. Both Bret and Shawn’s books state this as fact.

    @Sanguiluna Jannetty was supposedly a very bad drug addict. I’ve read in a good few books etc that McMahon etc wanted to give him a very good push but each time he’d piss off McMahon by appearing at shows drunk/drugged off his head and McMahon would fire/suspend him. Even recently Stephanie McMahon supposedly had wanted to give him a long contract after seeing him wrestle very well in a few matches but then again he appeared drugged up at some show and got fired again.

    Why not just say WWF? That’s what it was back then, afraid you’re gonna get in trouble or something… Doucher…

    Todays moves suck too douche. Now if you’re talking about 1995-2001 now those were the days when wrestling was great!

    What the fuck ever happened to Jannetty and Neidhart? It’s like they both faded into obscurity after their respective partners got their pushes.
