Before I get started, it should be noted that this was the first LockDown event in the Hogan/Bischoff era which ment that along with the traditional four sided ring came the retirement of the “Six Sides Of Steel” in favor of a steel cage. There were some changes to the card as Douglas Williams was unable to fly out of Europe to the PPV so he was stripped of the X Division Championship while Sean Waltman no-showed as well (and left TNA in the process).

Rob Van Dam vs. James Storm – This was the match to determine who gets the man advantage going into Lethal Lockdown later that night. RVd started the match off with a bang by kicking the cage door in Storm’s face to start things off before brawling on the outside with James returning the favor by cutting RVD open on the steel steps. This went back & forth between both men that did it’s job in getting the crowd hot for the show.

Xscape Match: Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Homicide – Due to Williams being unable to appear at the show, the winner of this match would replace Williams in the X Division Championship match later on in the night. The Guns worked together as a team here by double teaming both Homicide & Kendrick to the point where Kendrick was cut open. Kendrick & Homicide then proceded to work together to counteract the Guns here before going into business for himself to advance to the title match. This was a good fast paced match for what it was with the only drawback being that it was short on time.

Eric Young vs. Kevin Nash – Eric Young was out for revenge for Nash betraying him in favor of buddies in “The Band.” Young got some moves in on Nash but had the “never say die” attitude & kept begging Kevin Nash to bring it while Nash was beating on him to the point where Young got split open as well. This was another match that was kept short but served it’s purpose.

TNA Knockouts Champion Angelina Love & Tara vs. TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Beautiful People – All the Knockouts Titles were on the line here with the special stipulations that whoever won the fall on the Beautiful People would win the Knockout singles title as well regardless if it’s Tara or Love who lost the match. This combination of TBP was Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne and they were dominated by Love & Tara early in the contest before Tara (still upset that she lost the Knockouts Title to Love in that “Lockbox Challenge” weeks earlier) kept trying to showup Angelina with bling tags & even telling her at one point to “watch this” before missing a moonsault. It was the miscommunication between Tara & Love along with the assistance of Lacey Von Erich that led to Tara losing Love’s Knockouts Title. This was another match that was fine for what it was but the most interesting part of the match happened afterwards between Love & Tara.

X Division Championship Match: Kaz vs. Shannon Moore vs. Homicide – As noted earlier, Williams was stripped of the X Division Title so this was the match to determine the new champion but the actual physical belt was still with Williams. Similar to how the Guns did earlier, Kaz & Moore worked together against Homicide but their partnership didn’t last long with both men breaking up each other’s pin attempts. This was definately full of various spots & highlight reels such as Homicide’s double cutter/RKO off the top rope, Kaz’s powerbombing Moore into the cage, Homicide tossing Kaz off the top rope and landing in his shoulder, and Kaz hitting a sick variation of a piledriver that absolutely drilled Homicide. These guys worked their behinds off here & it clearly showed as this was the first standout match of the night.

Street Fight Match: Team 3D vs. The Band – With Waltman not at the show, Nash pulled double duty & teamed with Hall while 3D added the Falls Count Anywhere/Street Fight stipulation at the last minute. 3D dominated the early parts of the match as they met The Band on the rampway & brawled through the crowd. Hall & Nash were able to recover and seperate 3D as they held the cage door shut keeping Brother Ray out while taking turns working over Devon in the ring before Ray was able to get back in the cage and eventually “getting the tables” with Hall taking a 3D through it. This was a very fun match to watch.

Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson – Unlike the previous matches, the cage door was locked in this match with the only way to win this was to walk out the cage door but Mr. Anderson had the key to the cage as a result of winning his ladder match against Kurt weeks earlier. Anderson tried to leave the cage early but was stopped and as a result, the key to the lock on the cage was left in the lock throughout the match. While Anderson was cut, Angle was busted open & heavily bleeding throughout the match. The story here in this match was that Anderson was concerned with getting out the cage & winning the match while Angle was more focused on getting his revenge against Anderson the point where he had so many opportunities to leave while Anderson was down only to go back & inflict more punishment to the point where he threw the key outside of the cage so there was no way Anderson would had been able to leave the cage. This was definately the best match I’ve seen from Mr. Anderson dating back years to his Mr. Kennedy days in 2006 as both men pulled off some insane spots like Angle’s moonsault off the top of the cage & Anderson taking a suplex from Angle from the middle of the top rope that “knocked the snot out of him.” This was a great back & forth grueling fight.

TNA Champion A.J. Styles vs. D’Angelo Dinero – Before the match started, Flair was banned from ringside by referee Earl Hebner. Pope came into the match with a knee that wasn’t 100% after all the attacks by Flair & Styles for weeks on Pope and Styles worked over it while also injuring Dinero’s shoulder during the match as well. These two put on a real good match that was competitive between both men under all conditions (Dinero selling the leg while injuring his shoulder as well) while A.J., as usual, tried a daredevil moment of his own with a crossbody block off the top of the cage…and missing. The only downside I would say is how the match ended but it pushed the heel character that A.J. currently has. Good match.

Lethal Lockdown: Team Hogan vs. Team Flair – For those who haven’t seen a Lethal Lockdown match, it’s held under the same rules which the old WCW/NWA match of War Games where under. One man from each team starts the match and after a period of time, another member from one team (which in this case was Team Hogan due to RVD winning the match earlier) enters and after each time period, the teams alternate sending members in. Once all team members enter the cage, the roof containing all the weapons is lowered onto the cage and the only way to win is by pinfall or submission. Unfortunally, this turned out to be my least favorite Lethal Lockdown match since the very first one back in 2005 was as there wasn’t much that stood out during the match past Abyss starting the match with an injured hip from being hit by a car on Impact (you read that right) against Robert Roode & Desmond Wolfe going after Abyss’ Hall Of Fame ring. From there, the action in the ring with everyone was completely ignored & forgotten about as Jeff Hardy came out (after Sting prevented him to appearing sooner) & going completely crazy with a kendo stick on the outside with Beer Money before taking it to the roof of the cage & putting James Storm through a table. From there, the action in the ring completely stopped (as if time stood still) as Flair entered the match to take Abyss’ ring followed by Hogan & Bischoff getting in the ring and had their own little brawl with Flair bleeding before Abyss got the pin. This match went from being a normal Lethal Lockdown match before everyone in the ring (including Sting of all people) was forgotten about, the focus got put completely on Jeff Hardy (who never entered the ring for the record) and after his stunt, it became the Hogan/Flair/Bischoff show. This Lethal Lockdown match was bad but it was definately my least favorite since the first one 5 years earlier.

In the end, the only one leaving a bad taste in my mouth being the Lethal Lockdown match as the undercard was solid from top to bottom with some matches being good for what they were while others were a standout performance (X Division Title, Street Fight, Angle/Anderson) so overall, this is still an event worth giving a look at that I would recommend for a viewing.

    1. RVD vs. James Storm for Lethal Lockdown Advantage- This was a decent way to kick off the show.I feel anytime you start a ppv out with RVD not only do you get the crowd into the event but you are almost guaranteed to get a good fast pace fun match as well. That’s what we got here a little short but there was a little bit of everything including fighting on the inside and outside of the cage. Decent match to kick off the show. Winner RVD. Match Rating 7/10.

    2. Brian Kendrick vs. Homicide vs. Alex Shelly vs. Chris Sabin in a X Division Xscape match winner advances to the X Division Championship Match- This was another decent match. I guess the problem I had with this match was it did not have enough time to develop. This was another match to get into a title match and I think with 9 matches on the card TNA had to make sure to make the time short so they had enough time for other stuff on the card. All the competitors tried to get there sports in quick. Would have been a lot better with more time but was ok for what it was. Winner Homicide. Match Rating 6/10.

    3. Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young- I personally feel Kevin Nash should have been done with professional wrestling a long time ago. He is over the hill and is way past his prime in being able to put on a good match. Here it was to slow of a match and to me Eric Young was hurt in the long run because he gets buried again by a guy who no one has really cared about since his WCW run. One look at this match is all you will need. Winner Kevin Nash. Match Rating 2.5/10.

    4. Angelina Love and Tara vs. The Beautiful People with Lacey Von Erich for all of the TNA Knockouts Titles- This definitely had a story behind it and that had something going for it going into the match. As for the match it was nothing special and felt boring. To slow of a pace and the most talented knockout in the match Tara wasn’t able to get a lot of offense in at all. Another problem was it felt too much of a cluster as all the titles were on the line and the way that Tara lost her title was ridiculous As for the match itself it was below average and is really only worth one look. Winners the Beautiful People. Match Rating 4/10.

    5. Shannon Moore vs. Kazarian vs. Homicide for the TNA X Division Title- This was better than the number one contender ship earlier in the night mainly due to the fact that it had more time. All three men in this match put their bodies on the line with high flying spots in the match. The only thing that this match lacked was you knew that it was only 2 possibilities of a person winning and that was Kazarian and Homicide. Nice match here and this is where the card starts to pick up best match of the night up to this point. Winner and new TNA X Division Champion Kazarian. Match Rating 8.5/10.

    6. Team 3D vs. The Band in a St. Louis Street Fight- This was not as bad of a match as I was expecting although because Six Pac chose to not show up for the ppv that meant we had to see Kevin Nash wrestle two times on this show. It had a lot of weapon action and the Dudley’s really got the crowd working again as they always do. Match started in the crowd and worked its way into the ring. Average fight here but a lot better than I thought I was going to get. Winners Team 3D. Match Rating 5/10.

    7. Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle- What can you say about this match except for the fact that it was the best match on the show and is up to this point my match of the year. Ever since Mr. Anderson debut in TNA its like his career is back on path and he is doing good again. Angle didn’t have to carry him in this match he carried himself. Good storyline between the two and going into the match you knew it was going to be personal. Both of these men were busted open in this match I believe, I know Kurt was for sure. There was a lot of back and forth action but the coolest spot of the match and night was Kurt Angles Moonsault off of the top of the cage. At that point you might have thought it was over but Angle chose not to end the match. Lots of back and forth action with Angle ultimately prevailing. Great match. Match Rating 11/10.

    8. AJ Styles vs. The Pope for the TNA World Heavywieght Title- These two have had some good chemistry in the part and it showed here. I don’t really like AJ Styles as a heel so much because for about half the match he can’t wrestle his style because he is a heel and with all of his high flying moves those are not heel moves and get the crowd into the match. A few nice spots here including AJ coming off of the top of the cage for a cross body and missing the pope. Good back and forth action here with AJ getting the win and the second best match of the night. Winner and still TNA World Heavywieght Champion AJ Styles. Match Rating 9/10.

    9. Team Hogan (Abyss, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, and RVD vs. Team Flair (Beer Money, Sting, Desmond Wolfe)- Well this to say the least had a lot of nice spots but there were to many people involved in the match. At first I didn’t even think they would be able to get all the people in the new shaped ring but it worked out for the best as there was action outside and on top of the cage. I understand why they wanted Hogan, Flair, and Bishoff involved in the match because they are apart of the story but it was not needed at the end of the day because it took away from the men who were actually wrestling in the match. Some nice spots that involved Jeff Hardy including him jumping off the top of the ladder and crashing through James Storm on a table. Decent match with some thumbtacks involved as well. Winners Team Hogan (Abyss, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, and RVD. Match Rating 8/10.

Overall this show was a mixed bag. I would say at the end of the day this show was a lot better then worse. There were 3 solid matches to end the show except for the cluster mess at the end of the main event and a very good x division 3 way match for the title. I would give this show a grade of 61/90 which is a 67.7% which round up to a 68% which means this was a good ppv. It was close to being a 4 star awesome ppv but the middle of the show was just to weak. I got this DVD for $12.99 so if you can find it at a local FYE or Best Buy I would still recommend to pick this DVD up. If you can let me know if this review was helpful or not I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

I’ve been a TNA fan since I picked up the X-division volume 1 dvd. I appreciate the alternate, cutting edge product they try to put out. Ever since Hogan jumped on the TNA ship and began to make “changes” my faith in TNA has been shaken up. The PPVs from Geneis 2010-on have been atrocious to decent at best. The one thing, however, that separates TNA from the WWE are the quality matches that their talent produces. Lockdown 2010 has somewhat revitalized my faith in TNA.

Most of the matches in the PPV are very solid and entertaining matches. The Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young match is probably the weakest one in the PPV. It just had no heat at all…However, Nash replaces a no showing 6-pac to tag with Hall against Team 3D. Team 3D always knows how to fire up the crowd.

The x-division triple threat match was a very great match. At first, the crowd seemed dead but after a series of high risk moves, they got into it. The x-division in TNA will always be a main-stay in the company.

Perhaps the greates match of the year (next to Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania match) is Ken Anderson vs. Kurt Angle. This match had everything coming into it-drama, tension, heat and chemistry). This match alone will make you feel that fourteen dollars was worth it!

Aj Styles vs. The Pope was a great one too. However the Lockdown main event was just a little bit of a mess. It had some great spots, such as Hardy’s splash off the ladder on top of the cage and Sting and Flair landing on tacs but other than that it was the weakest lethal lockdown match main event in TNA’s history.

Get this one for the Angle vs Anderson match!

Me and my gf saw this LIVE in St. Louis. One major problem that night, the TNA-Tron worked for maybe two minutes of the Outsiders vs. The Dudley’s. That was it. No “inside the cage” shots at all, whatsoever. This meant that anyone who didn’t shell out the $50-$75 for floor seats barely got to see anything up close. I will buy this on DVD, so I can see all the awesome spots!

Note to TNA: Make sure your video screen works for the next PPV away from Orlando. Because I spent $40 on each of our tickets and came away with really nothing like seeing a live event. Most other people would be pissed and wouldn’t spend money on your product anymore over not being recognized as wanting to see the show that others who paid more got to see.

TNA has a lot of problems, And Im not going to over them here. Only that this was one of the better shows theyve put on. Thiers some Dumb booking, but the Macthes are really good. Angle-Anderson is MOTY Canadtide, and would been better had it not been overbooked. But seriously scoop this baby up before it ends up in Vince’s Video Libary.
